Being asked to deliver an eulogy is a very special honor, as well as a big responsibility. Many people look for comfort in the touching words about the individual to whom they are paying respects. Eulogies are most effective when given by someone who knew the deceased on a level most others did not. As mourners should not suffer through long activities, the delivery should be short and very sweet. It is recommended that one use notes when speaking instead of memorization, so that the words flow in a natural and sincere manner. The main thing is that everyone involved be touched and comforted by the heartfelt words.
