More and more people are opting for cremation services in place of a traditional funeral, where an individual is buried in a casket. One of the major reasons for this is that this disposal method is much cheaper than a traditional funeral. Also, individuals who are concerned about the environment prefer this method of internment, as they feel that it is environmentally friendly.

Once you learn that your loved one has died, find a crematorium. You will then be directed on how what you should do so that the body can be cremated. This may include presenting some legal documents. In some states, you will have to get a letter of approval from your local council for the service to be conducted.

You can opt to have a funeral service or not. If you choose to have a service, you can have it before the body is cremated or afterwards. If the service is held afterwards, you can have the urn holding the ashes placed in a prominent place, where people can view it and have a photo of your loved one placed beside it.

You can have a religious leader officiate over the ceremony. If you are not religious, then you can just have a non-religious ceremony. Viewing of the body can take place during the service.

The service is usually held on the same day that the body will be cremated. The body is transferred to a cremator. An identity card is attached to the cremator and the body left to burn. Nothing will be removed from the body and it will be cremated the same way it was received from the funeral service.
