Few Tips For Creating Funeral Service Notice

Drafting funeral announcements can be a stressful affair for an individual who is grieving. Hard as it may be, it is necessary so as to inform the community about the passing away of the individual. There are some etiquette rules to be followed when writing these notices.

Provide a photo of the deceased person. This will help people to easily identify him. Then provide other identification details. This includes their name, nickname, if applicable, and any official titles they held. If the deceased was a married woman, remember to include her maiden name too. State where the person worked and where they lived.

Name any close surviving family members of the deceased. This normally includes nuclear family members and some members of the extended family. This is essential as someone reading the notice may be familiar with one of the named family members of the deceased.

You can provide details on when and where the deceased was born and when and how they died. You do not have to go into details. Include details of where and when the memorial service will be held. Specify if only close family members are allowed to attend the memorial service or other people can also attend the event.

Inform people on whether charitable contributions can be made. You can also request for donations to be sent to your favorite charity organization. It is advisable that you write down the notice, rather than try to give out information over the phone. Also, avoid lengthy notices as space is often limited and some words may have to be cut out.

Funeral announcements can be written in either a formal or informal tone. You can have the notice published in the obituary section of your local newspaper. Alternatively, you can write a simple notice and send it to friends and family members through email. You can also have it broadcast on radio.
