Mortuary makeup artists offer a unique gift to those mourning the loss of a loved one. It takes top skills and excellent training to perform well in this field. Making a person look the way they did in life is very important to family and friends of the deceased. We have all heard people comment about how "peaceful and good" a person looked at their funeral or wake. This is the work of those who excel in their work.

It is remarkable that a person can be made to look "life like" even in death. It is even more so that they can be made to look the way they did before their death, by someone who never knew them. Most often families will submit a favorite photo to the funeral home and the "beautician" will use this as a template of sorts in order to recreate the person's looks.

The custom in many places is for loved ones to have a viewing of the deceased before they are laid to rest. Helping to create, or rather recreate the look of a lost loved one for their family is a unique gift. It requires a special person. It is indeed the final gift for a person exiting this world.
