Facts You Should Expect When Making Condolences Messages

One of the ways you can provide support to a friend who has lost their loved one is by writing them a note to let them know that you are there for them. Writing condolences messages can be quite tricky for most people. However, by keeping in mind a couple of things, you should be able to come up with a proper note.

Start the note by acknowledging the loss that your friend has suffered and how saddened you were by the news. Express your sympathy about their loss. You should refer to the deceased by name. If you knew the deceased, you can make a nice remark about them.

You can share memories of the person if you knew them. Be specific about the memory or loss that you share. Opt for a positive or neutral thought. If the deceased was close or special to you in a certain way, let your friend know. The survivors will appreciate the fact that their loved one meant something special to other people too.

Don't over think your message. Just write something out of your heart and something genuine, expressing how you feel about the whole situation. Be brief and to the point. The recipient may not have time to read through a long letter.

End your note by letting the person know you can help them in specific ways in case the need arises. Do not just offer to help without stating how or what you can do. This will increase the chance that the person will take you up on you offer in case they need assistance.

Try and send your note within a reasonable period of time. This can be a within a week or two of their loved one passing on. Instead of typing the letter, write it using pen and paper. Use simple stationary, with a plain background. The messages can be written or tucked in between a sympathy card.
