Tips For Choosing Funeral Clothes
Attending a memorial service is often a stressful event. Selecting the correct funeral clothes can help you to be less stressed while showing your respect for the individual who has passed. The right clothing allow you to be more comfortable at the event and if necessary, focus on your own grief.
Females do well in selecting black for the occasion. Whether you select a suit or dress, the color is versatile yet respectful. Black can give a dressy and conservative option. It speaks of the honor you are paying the individual. Avoid the use of any loud or otherwise splashy colors. Grey and navy are also appropriate if you prefer something other than black. Outfits should cover the shoulders as well as the knees. Choose conservative and comfortable shoes, especially if you are attending a graveside service.
Men should choose a conservative suit. Colors of black, grey or dark blue are the best options. One's shirt should offer a crisp, white color. The tie selected needs to be conservative with jewelry limited to a watch and wedding band. During the colder months, the addition of a dark trench coat is appropriate.
In most cases, younger children should be left with a sitter unless the service is for an immediate family member. Older children and teens should follow the dress of their parent of the same sex. Preteen boys may attend with a white shirt and tie.
Be sure to bring an umbrella if the service is scheduled out of doors. It is much more comfortable if you are dry. Place an extra handkerchief in your pocket for the day.
Select funeral clothes to show respect for individuals who have passed. Dark clothing is the best choice, with black the preferable color. Appropriate dress can also be comfortable. If there is a chance you will need to stand for an extended period, wear comfortable shoes.
