The Basics Of Funeral Service Programs

Funeral directors or homes may charge you quite a bit of money if you want them to assist you to write funeral programs. If you are on a tight budget and don't have the money to spend, you can write your own program. This will allow you to even add any personal touches you want. Knowing how to go about it will help you through the process.

Consider the information that you want to include in the program. There are different kinds of information you may choose to include. This includes the deceased's biography, photos, poems, songs, order of service and scripture messages. Try to keep the program short and simple.

Come up with a layout of the leaflet. The layout should be able to incorporate all the information and still look presentable. You can design your own using any design software you have or you can download ready made templates from the Internet.

Have at least one photo of the deceased person in the leaflet. Choose a quality photograph where the person was alone. Avoid group photographs which you may have to crop. You can edit the photo if necessary, if it is not in good condition.

Get input from other family members about what they would want included in the program. If possible, be willing to accommodate their wishes. Try and match the theme of the program with the rest of the theme of the event.

Take time to go through the program once you are done writing and laying it out. Check if there are any errors or inconsistency on the information provided and the layout. Have another person also go through the program to cross check if it is okay. Once you are sure everything is fine, print the funeral programs on high quality paper.
