Basics You Should Learn When Setting Up Secular Funerals

If a non religious funeral is in the works, individuals will have to take some extra steps to make sure that the wishes of the deceased are respected. This way, all family members will be happy. At no point should religion be mentioned in the ceremony.

One of the best things that people can do is procure a gravestone that is secular. It should not contain any Christian messages and should rather include a nice saying or two that will allow loved ones to feel better about things. The gravestone can be carved from marble or granite and should remain in great condition through the years.

Humanism should be stressed. If the individual who was deceased has dedicated his/her life to secular values, then religion should be kept out of things. People might even look up certain humanistic sayings, which can then be added to the program for no extra charge.

Books might also be brought into the fold. If the family member had long been in love with Twain or Einstein, a few sayings from these authors can be read aloud. Some of the deceased's favorite books might even be set up at the ceremony for others to view.
