Funeral Order Of Service Program Purposes

Attending a memorial for a friend or family member who has passed away can bring forth a lot of emotion. Due to personal requests, cultural and religious traditions, some attendees may feel a little lost at such events. When a funeral order of service handout is provided, everyone will be more aware and comfortable.

There are multiple purposes for this item, the foremost being as a way to let everyone know what to expect. It is a step by step listing of what is scheduled to occur during the event. This item also provides information about the songs, poems, passages and speakers used during the proceedings.

The front of the program is where a favorite photo of the deceased is placed. Below the picture should be printed the honoree's full name, their dates of birth and death, followed by the place and the time the event will take place. The top of the page typically has a memorial caption.

Inside the program is a carefully organized list of events as they are scheduled to happen, starting with the opening remarks and ending with closing prayers or comments. Having things clearly listed in this fashion is especially helpful to those who may not be familiar with how these proceedings go since there are a lot of variations. It also assists the officiant with keeping control.

Religious script, quotes, literary passages, hymns, songs, instrumentals and poetry are a few things often used to pay tribute at memorials. With the handout in place, all in attendance are aware of which are set to be delivered. The program should include all titles, sources, authors, composers and performers of each piece.

Creating a funeral order of service program is a thoughtful way of allowing all guests to follow along with the proceedings. This is especially useful for attendees who may not be familiar with what to expect. It also serves as a token that each mourner can take away as a memorial keepsake of someone they have lost.
